2) We request that you keep fic plugging to one fic per month.? Please post *only* the link to the fic and a general summary, and please label the subject line REC: followed by the name of the fic.
3) We love Off-topic posts.? However we ask that you *always* label them OT in the subject.
4) Chat every Sunday, noon EST. See you there. Also, we have a website with lots of stuff on it. Check it out.
5) Please do not cross-post an email to more than one yahoo group. Also, do not spam.

Purpose:

This list was formed with the aim of discussing various aspects of Harry/Draco fanfic, while showcasing the works of fabulous writers who don't get enough attention.? The order of the day is SLASH, so, if you are uncomfortable with ANY aspects of a continuing discussion about many aspects of gay male relationships, the Armchair may not be for you. In addition, this list houses Love Under Will and other fanfics by Aja and Maya, so updates, cookies, and new chapters of LUW, Underwater Light, and other things we write will be shared here semi-frequently.

History:

This list is comprised of many members who were originally part of a Yahoo group called Draco_101, a lovely little list shared between Aja and Frances Potter, author of Resolution.? While the list was still young, Frances decided to combine her two fic lists into one, so Draco_101 closed, and two new lists were formed. Frances Potter's fanfic list is now , and Armchair Slash comprises its own discussion list.

How the List Works:

Every month around here, things change. We feature different authors, some well-known, some less so, including some fairly new to the H/D pairing, whose works represent aspects of the pairing whose discussion we feel will lead to greater insights on the pairing itself, and fanfic in general. While each author or authors are featured for the month we stick primarily to discussion of their fics, though sometimes we will also have concurrent list fic challenges.

Basic List Rules:

1) The big rule around here is No Fic Posting. Only featured authors of the month may post fics. Don't post fics unless they fall under the following headings:
a) You may post a fic in response to a featured Armchair fic challenge. When posting you *must* label your fic "FIC:" in the subject header.
b) All fics must be Harry/Draco, unless the fic challenge permits otherwise.
c) You may post a fic that was inspired by or is in response to a specific list discussion.
d) You may post a fic that was inspired by or is a fanfic of a hosted or featured fanfic. You may also link to fanart done for any of our featured stories.
e) Fics by any of our featured authors, past and present, may be posted in full to the list or uploaded to the files under the proper folder. (Featured Authors may create their own folder for fics if they wish.)

You *can*, however, post short H/D fics and ficlets (under 1500 words) of all kinds to the Ficlets folder under the Files on the yahoo group web page:

If you have a longer fic, consider submitting it at one of the many fandom archive sites. FictionAlley, The Potter Slash Archive, Pure Magnetism, and The Restricted Section are some Harry Potter archives you may want to check out.

2) Plugging non-featured H/D fics is acceptable, but in order to prevent list spam, we ask that list members limit these kinds of post to one plug per month. Also, cross-posts are generally frowned upon, as many of our members are also on Veela Inc, Glasses Reflect, or other fiction lists, where the majority of cross-posting occurs, so please limit those as well to cross-posts that you feel are *absolutely necessary.*

3) We like Off-topic posting. But there are guidelines:
a) ALL Off-topic posts MUST be labeled "OT:" in the beginning of the subject header.
b) An Off-Topic post is considered to be one that does not directly relate to the current fanfic discussion, or to discussion of current or past featured authors and fics.
c) All Off-topic posts must be relevant to the fandom or to fanfic issues in some way. An OT post talking about your brother's wedding would be unacceptable - Livejournals and other blogs are the best forum for personal posts. An OT post debating whether Dan or Tom look hotter in their CoS quidditch gear.... well. We all must gush sometime, right?

4) Pointless one-liners are SO not cool, yo. Acceptable brief posts are those that are posted in order to answer a question that was asked on-list, or to give important information to the list.

5) The rules listed above may change slightly depending on what the current theme of the month is or according to the wishes of the current featured authors.
