Fanfic.
If you don’t know what fan fiction is, this is not a good place to begin asking the question, but I’ll tell you anyway. It’s fiction based on pre-existing stories.
“What, you mean like how Wicked is based on The Wizard of Oz?” Yes, exactly like that, except most fanfic writers A) don’t get millions of dollars for their work, because their work is on a very dubious area of copyright law known as “fair use”; B) are female, and C) obsessed with inserting homoerotic male romance in their fic.
In fandom, we call C) “slash”. You’ll find a lot of it here, which makes this site something you should only look at with a parent if you are between the ages of 12 and 18. (Seriously, once your mom gets over the shock, she might be glad you introduced her to the subject. :)
