So, we talked about doing a Mary Sue challenge 3 months ago, and because I have the attention span of a fly, nothing came of it. But now there’s a giant mary sue debate going around, and it has INSPIRED ME. only i thought i would go *beyond* the Mary Sue challenge and expand it. SO.

I feel like the next time a discussion of women comes up, and someone says, “it’s just that the women are written worse than the men!” or “it’s just that she takes over the plot!” or “she’s just annoyingly aggressive!” or “she’s just annoyingly passive!” or “it’s just that she’s just obnoxiously talented!” or “it’s just that she’s obnoxiously strong!” or “it’s just that she’s obnoxiously weak!” or anything to me that sounds like it came from here, here, or here–

- now I can point to this community and just be like: okay, so go help change whatever it is you think you hate about female characters! I feel like it’s up to us to be the monkey wrench in the system that allows us to keep hating/dismissing/ignoring/not writing female characters. We keep talking about this issue, so obviously we recognize that something should be changing.

So, here is my hat tossed into the ring to join all the amazing communities of fandomers who are already doing this. I’d love it if you all joined me, too!

Epic WIP Dump Part 2!

Iand, oh my god, this is the EPIC NEIL/DANIEL FIC THAT I SPENT LIKE THREE MONTHS RESEARCHING AND MAYBE 2 WEEKS WRITING BEFORE I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS LIKE. uh. the hardest fic i’ve ever written and i probably will never do it justice lolol, and anyway here are snippets and you can take it or leave it because adklfjafdk;kl i just have no time right now, none. none. and ilu neil/daniel maybe one day i will finish you.

(tonight chapter 17 of That Fic topped 20,000 words! and although about 10,000 of those words will probably need to be rewritten at some point, it still makes me really happy, because, hey, that’s 20,000 words that proves that in between all the yes-i-am/no-i’m-not madness, i’ve actually been working on it. you know. on and off. since. 2004. god ok look minor accomplishments, i can has them.)
