i guess this just proves all boys grow up, even the ones I want so much to stay fifteen and squabbling and kicking Harry under the table in potions labs forever.
by coincidence, i just watched the cheesiest H/D video on earth and it made me ridiculously happy. i do not think there will ever be another pairing that continually, constantly, gets me in the gut the way this one does. It is like, no matter how far I travel or ramble or roam, H/D is always what I see when I turn back home. Or something. OTP forever.

a) yes, Harry and Draco are still snarling and angry and obsessed
b) yes, Harry and Draco are still in love
c) yes, Harry Potter and HP fandom and HP canon is still is KIND OF AMAZING AND IT’S OKAY TO LOVE IT

...and okay so now i’m rereading my five-year-old (jesus, how the time flies) essay on Draco, and getting pissed off at JKR all over again.
Just last night I was lying in bed thinking about the Epilogue. (Shut up, you do it too. Don’t lie.) And thinking about how unfulfilling it was, how in a single lame chapter she managed to sweep under the rug, shortchange, or ignore just about all her primary narrative themes. Now, here I am, re-reading this essay, and wow. It is full of all the faith and confidence I had in the narrative back then, as an HP fan post book-5, clinging to the hope that OOTP was just a giant wtf fluke and that the promise of house unity and getting some seriously badass Slytherins all up in here would be fulfilled by the final two books.
well, THANKS FOR NOTHING, JO. Yes, I liked your final two books. Yes, I still love your stupid amazing universe and the stupid amazing boy who never-actually-directly-defeated-Voldemort. Yes, I will be forever grateful for the Harry/Draco fanfic otherwise known as Half-Blood Prince.
